Mr Nhlanhla Ngidi is an attorney by profession. In 1987 he represented the ANC (Youth Section) at the United Nations Special Committee against Apartheid.

Mr Ngidi completed his article clerkship at Mlaba, Makhaye & Partmers and in 1992 he was an observer of the General Elections in the UK on behalf of the ANC in preparation of the 1994 elections in South Africa. During 1993-1994 he served as the Regional Elections Coordinator for KwaZulu-Natal.

From 1994-2000 he was a member of the KwaZulu Natal Provincial Legislature. Mr Ngidi served as a Professional Assistant at Siwendu, Ngakane and Partners.

Mr Ngidi was the Head of the Crime Analysis Division at the Directorate of Special Operations in the National Prosecuting Authority. From 2009-2010 he was the Regional Executive Manager of the South African Social Security Agency in KwaZulu-Natal before joining the Office of the Premier in KwaZulu-Natal as the Director-General.
